Equipment and
computerisation
The Customs Board intends that all
appropriate Customs procedures will be computerised. An
Information Systems Strategy for the whole of the State Revenue
Service has been produced which defines the IS organisation and
infrastructure which is required to introduce and support
computer systems throughout the SRS. Any new systems, and changes
to existing systems, introduced by the National Customs Board
will comply with this strategy.
The State Revenue Service, in an
agreement reached with Estonia and Lithuania, decided to adopt
the ASYCUDA ++ declaration processing system. The three Baltic
states are co-operating in the implementation of the system in
order to facilitate the future exchange of data. The system,
which will be implemented over the next year, will provide nearly
all the IS requirements of the Customs Service and will form the
core of the information system. The National Customs Board will
ensure that hardware assigned to the Customs Service is used only
for the purposes and tasks envisaged. It will register all
hardware allocated to the Customs Service, and will introduce
systems of regular stocktaking.
