In our ongoing effort to fight
corruption, we will create, by May 2002, a Corruption Prevention
Bureau (CPB) under the Ministry of Justice, which will end the
current agency fragmentation in this area. In defining the
functions of this unit and providing sufficient resources to
enable the fulfillment of its obligations, the government will
follow the advice of the World Bank. To this end, a timetable
will be adopted for establishing the bureau, including on the
transfer of the SRS anticorruption unit into the bureau. We will
also prepare and publish the terms of reference for, and
expeditiously appoint, the CPB head. Finally, a survey of public
opinion on corruption will be piloted and implemented.
